Announcing my 2nd Book: The World’s Most Traveled Man’s Top 60 Travel Tips

Here it is! My second book! And it’s called The World’s Most Traveled Man’s Top 60 Travel Tips. It was just launched worldwide this September 2021 and available on several platforms, in paperback and ebook format. Why so soon after just launching my first book Globetrotter, you might ask? Well simply because it comes hand in hand with Globetrotter! It’s more of a “How to” guide book, detailing ultimate tips and advice one could learn from experiencing 17 years living on the road and reaching all the countries in the world, half of a lifetime around the globe non-stop. I must admit, I saw it coming… And it happened! But I was prepared… When I first planned to write my memoir Globetrotter after reaching the 195/195 country milestone, I knew the book’s genre wouldn’t appeal to everybody. It is a biographical memoir, and in a memoir, we recount the story of a life experience, almost in a literal fictitious narrative. The writing style goes into […]

Visiting Libya in 2021: my 195th and last Country in the World!

Libya! Once one of the richest country in Africa, thanks to endless supplies of oil. And like many other oil countries would agree, wherever there is oil, there is trouble. Nothing could be further from the truth in the troubled north-African nation, which has been embroiled in Civil wars since the Arab Spring 10 years prior. I had waited since 2011 to enter Libya, with small windows opening once in a while. I had never managed to enter, and every time I seemed ready to go, more bad news would strike the country once again, spiraling to never ending chaos. \ Some might already know that I am a big fan of north African countries. In fact, I often say that they are my favorite Arab countries, along with Lebanon. Knowing Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia all reserved the same kind of culture, hospitality and amazing food, I knew I would have a great time in Libya. If only it was easier to make it there. […]

Discovering Mexico during covid: Oaxaca

After much time spent in modern Mexican cities and touristic sites during peak season on the pacific coast, it was time for a more authentic expérience with the culture rich city of Oaxaca. I had long wished to visit this amazing place but had fallen short every time I was in the country. But this was the perfect time and for the occasion, and I had planned to spend a whole week exploring the capital region of the ancient Zacatecas empire! End of march was still in spring break, and I met again with the school holidaying Americans. But this time, it seemed to be a more refined tourist, or maybe even hippie style, who had the courage to venture out of the typical spring break strongholds of Cancun and Cabos. Oaxaca is known to attract a craft loving crowd, with its culture and thus, a more hippie bohemian traveler. That made for an interesting change after Cabos. End of march was still in spring […]

Discovering Mexico during covid: The Western Coast + Monterrey + Cabos

Following my Mexican adventures in the central highlands around Mexico city,  I had planned to explore the western coast of mexico, a place that I had very llitle knowledge until now, with the exception of frequent weekend visits to Acapulco with friends when I used to live in Mexico City. But extending on thousands of kilometers, there is a lot to discover and now was the best time to do so. It was mid february and the weather was warming up, enough to enjoy some sunshine and beach time in the pacific ocean. In This Article…1 The Itinerary2 Puerto Vallarta3 Monterrey4 Mazatlan, Sinaloa5 Baja California Sur The Itinerary My plan was to start on the Guadalajara coast and up to Sinaloa, then enjoy a flight transitin Monterrey to spend a week discovering the rapidly growing city, and then fly to Baja California Sur on time for spring break (even though I didn’t have any plans to party in these pandemic times). There is much more […]

Living on a 40 feet Sailboat on the Cancun Lagoon

I’ve never really been the kind of guy to go to all inclusive hotels. Once in a while on a cruise ship is fine, but it’s not because I happened to be in Cancun for a month that I had to go that route. There are other options around that aren’t the most common, but much more appealing to me. And living on an anchored boat off a dock in a rich neighborhood just next to the Hotel zone was the perfect change I needed.  In This Article…1 The boat2 Trying something new3 it’s crocodile free The boat It’s definitely not the usual plan, but why not! People tend to go the easy way and book their accomodation off those shiny postcard pictures of the latest five star hotels on booking platforms. That’s because it’s the way it’s always been done in Cancun. Now with services like airbnb, it becomes much easier to rent a condo apartment in one of the residential neighborhoods all around […]
